2. Why MERGA collects information
MERGA collects and stores personal information that is necessary to administer membership and meet its constitutional aims in providing services for its members. Services include the dissemination of information on recent mathematics education research and teaching developments, and the provision of means for members to communicate with each other on matters concerning mathematics education. Information is collected via membership application or renewal forms, and is recorded electronically.

Other personal information is not made available to any outside organisation except where members give specific written permission for a specific purpose.
4. Access by members
Members have the right to request access to their personal information. This right is subject to some exceptions which are set out in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. In order to ensure the privacy and security for its members and other associates, MERGA requires any request for information to be made in writing and include your full name, address and phone number. This will help us to speedily verify your request. Write to MERGA's VP (Communications).
